princesses in haute couture

if you didn’t know by now, or guess from my valentines day outfit as seen here, i’ve always dreamt of being a disney princess. like, they’re my spirit animal. so, a while ago i was on tumblr and i stumbled across this amazing pictorial on disney princesses in haute couture gowns and my heart began to sing, because disney has created some of the most iconic outfits of all time – most girls can, at one stage or another, say that they’ve wished for a cinderella-type wedding with a gigantic ballgown (nowadays i either want vera or elie, though) or wondered how it was physically possible for belle to move in that obscenely constructed dress.

because to label her ‘a singer’ would be a little bit of an injustice. upon discovery of her music a few years back, i was instantly besotted with her smooth vocals and honest lyrics, finding in them little pieces of myself (especially during all of the emotional turmoil i was enduring at the time). but when she released the song 3:16am, something in me sparked a bit. was it the beat? her voice? the lyrics? you decide for yourself. suffice to say, my study alarm has been set to 3:16am ever since with the title “i do not feel the fear of falling”, just to be corny.

she’s not exactly new to the scene, as you’ve probably heard her on drake’s song, from time, and if you haven’t, you’ve probably seen the lyrics splashed on twitter and facebook (who am i kidding – i’ve quoted “i love me, i love me enough for the both of us.” too).

her latest ep, sail out, succeeding her previous ep sailing soul(s), is start to finish brilliant, featuring the likes of kendrick lamar and childish gambino. suffice to say, i’ve tried to learn all the words to comfort inn (freestyle), the worst has me feeling all kinds of unwanted feels and WTH is a mellow tune that i genuinely enjoy – especially ab-soul’s verse on it.

Because Everyone Needs To Laugh Now & Then

Although my blog has only been updated sporadically, that doesn’t mean I’ve been on hiatus from all social media platforms. 2013 (thus far) has been a constant battle within my heart, mind and soul, so it’s been difficult for me to try and maintain a genuine medium of self-expression when I don’t even know the self I’m trying to express.

Nonetheless, there’s always been my love for Tumblr – it has seen me at my best, my worst, my most insecure and my most ridiculous, because the site and its inhabitants are simultaneously all of the above. I wanted to share some of the blogs that always manage to lift my spirits and make me literally LOL. It may not seem like it, but these people are real and absolutely hilarious! 
(I know it is – or at least, was – a somewhat unwritten rule that you mustn’t share Tumblr on other social media, but the perks of me doing this is if someone tries to steal the popular text posts and post them as their own on Facebook or Twitter, you can publicly disgrace them by showing their unoriginality :])
