When you’ve been on Tumblr for as long as I’ve been on Tumblr, you’ve seen lots of things – maybe more than you’ve wanted to by accident – but one thing you’d definitely have noticed are the fashion trends. Remember the Great Hipster Trek of 2013? The Indie Revival of 2014 (and probably 2015)? The Grungepocalypse?

It’s interesting to see how long it takes trends to escape the internet and reach our closets (and thus, our Instagrams), and what I’m wearing basically feels like a Tumblr cliche.

I also find it kinda funny how if you were to go on a street style/’indie fashion’ blog, you’d be like “Wow, this is such a cool outfit *reblogs*”, but when you see someone wear it in real life, say at Neighbourgoods in the middle of Braamfontein, you’d probably be like, “Ugh. Spot the hipster.” (or maybe that’s just me). I guess that just goes to show that maybe some things you prefer to see only online. Like, if I saw a man walking around with flowers in his beard, I’d think it’s quite strange, yet when I see it online, it’s just a regular Tuesday.

Suffice it to say, in my choker, high waisted jeans, cut out booties, crop top & studded denim jacket, I felt like maybe I should’ve saved this for Braam instead of Sandton City (some people really like to stare, ha!). I didn’t mind though, because this was a day for me and my honorary little sister-friend, Khensani from Oh, Kenzo (she took these great photos whilst having to listen to my badgering backseat-photography).

NB: this is my last post as a bonafide Joburger! The big Cape Town move is happening tomorrow morning, eeek! So, there may be some blog radio silence as I accustom to res life as a freshman! Wish me luck 😀
