*Drake voice* Took a break from blogging, now it’s back to that!

Hello and welcome back to the revamped DearSolo Blog! I hope you like the new look and new branding (as courtesy of the amazing Lusanda Buthelezi – book her for your creative design needs!), and to kick off my new posts, I thought I’d start by finally showing you more of the shots from my shoot with Cedric Nzaka!

When you’ve been on Tumblr for as long as I’ve been on Tumblr, you’ve seen lots of things – maybe more than you’ve wanted to by accident – but one thing you’d definitely have noticed are the fashion trends. Remember the Great Hipster Trek of 2013? The Indie Revival of 2014 (and probably 2015)? The Grungepocalypse?

before i got overwhelmed by the madness that is fashion week, i had the opportunity to shoot with the amazing photographer Tegan Smith while she was in joburg this past week. you may know her as the incredible photo taker behind Baked The Blog, and if you do, you’ll know that she’s good at what she does. i got to experience the magic first hand and i honestly can’t wait to do it again! i had such a great time shooting with her – and the pictures prove the magic.

#mbfwj day 2: tart & selfi

my inaugural fashion week attendance was pretty much life making. in another post, you’ll understand exactly why, but this one is about the first show i witnessed. like most fashion related institutions, the space was running a competition to see a #mbfwj show – in this case, the tart & selfi show on the 21st of march 2014 – and of course i avidly took to the interweb to enter, therefore the biggest of huge ‘thank you‘s goes out to them for the tickets! being in the second row was amazing – i sat behind this lady (who was live instagramming the whole show, shoutout to her ability to edit/post so quickly) who, for a few minutes, i genuinely thought was lena dunham. it was very confusing but ridiculously awesome to say the least.

Today I Went To…

Today I Went To…
Well, actually, I went to Sandton City but going to Topshop might have made me the happiest. Their collections never seem to disappoint – well, at least not me (my mom went in before me and left about five minutes later because there “wasn’t much in there”). So I thought I could share a few of my favourite winter picks from the store (except the accessories and shoes, if I had the chance to fully engage with them, I would still be there now). Also, one should never underestimate the value of a mirror selfie.
Before I do, though, here’s what I wore today:
Shirt from H&M London, Leather Jacket from Yeye Oge Morningside, Leggings from Woolworths, Boots from Topshop
Now to begin with my absolute favourite – this jersey/top with Sugarhill Gang’s Rapper’s Delight lyrics on it.

So excited to see that Topshop SA now has disco pants!
Need this denim skater skirt!

I also went to Cotton On today and bought this beautiful jacket and a new sweater, because sweater weather is better weather and when Joburg finally decides to have a legitimate winter, I need to be prepared.

(To all those writing exams – like I am about to begin on Monday – good luck!!)
