outfit | opposite of adults

‘opposite of adults’, alternatively titled, ‘the security guard thought i was too fat to be on a seesaw’.

my polaroid camera was a birthday gift and it is my world

you know, since i recently turned eighteen, i haven’t actually felt that different. sure, i can vote, drink, drive (when i get my ish together), gamble, get married, get my own gym membership, my own savings account, blahblahblahblahblah, and sure, some of those things are daunting, but other than that, i’ve been very calm about this whole aging process.

florals? in autumn?

photos by sope og

to paraphrase the devil wears prada, i am wearing florals in autumn. groundbreaking. but in other news, you’ll see below that i cut my hair. i did it very impulsively yesterday morning and with my outfit today, i legitimately felt like one of my fave bloggers, raya rossi. i also committed a lot of blogger cliches today and i understand completely why bloggers do it – its so fun! i: wore my jacket over my shoulders instead of actually putting my arms through them; wore a chain necklace with a button up shirt; wore socks with jelly sandals; carried a celine(-esque) bag.

tomboy for a day

for anyone who has been reading dearsolo for a while, you’ll know how much i love my topshop mom jeans -i even dedicated an entire blog post to them when i bought them last june. but some time after that, i’m not sure if i lost weight (ha!) or if they expanded, but suddenly, i had to belt them every time i wore them, which i never had to do before, and it was a massive pain in the bum. then, in a completely different train of thought, i became like super obsessed with boyfriend jeans and i craved a pair. so what do i do with some baggy mom jeans and a lust for boyfriend jeans? introduce my boyfriend to my mom and get this uber tomboy-ish vibe.

what i wore | graduation gear

in the next installment of dearsolo goes to cape town, here’s just the breakdown of what i wore on that day. it may not have been my day, but i at least wanted to try to look nice – and what’s nice than all black everything?

i also got to (finally) wear my mr price heels in public! i’ve worn them to the movies and things, but this was their official debut. i absolutely love my shoes – not only are they on trend with their black leather + cut outs, they’re so soft, light and incredibly comfortable! i literally wore them all day and the only reason my feet were sore was because of uct’s stoned pavements. besides, i got one helluva calve work out!

what i wore:

white dress and sunday bests

i was thinking of doing an october month summary because quite a bit has happened that has just remained undocumented. crunch time at school and stuff – you pick your battles.

even though i do actually where dresses and sometimes i wear heels (the whole being tall thing, you know), yesterday, people found it considerably surprising that i wore both together. comments like “wow! you look so pretty today” and an unusual amount of  “you look so nice”s hit me right in the self esteem because how does that mean i look every other day of my life 🙁 🙁 🙁 ??? i also got asked if i was going to a confirmation that day. who know a white dress on a sunday would cause such commotion?
moving on though. it has been a busy week and a busy month, with the most important exams of my life steadily approaching and me doing little to aid it but whatever, i thought i should blog this outfit instead of study. priorities.
what i wore:
  • dress from edgars (biggest dilemma of my life – white or black???)
  • shoes from truworths
  • watch from avon
  • my oh-so-not-celine celine bag from my mother
i am also very happy to have my braids back – i missed them so much 🙁
side note: you are very welcome to skip the very last photo of this blog post. it’s of my feet *shrugs*.
have a great week and stuff, though! 🙂
