fashion | in light of #MBFWCT, here’s a #TBT

when the majority of south africa’s blogging elite live in cape town, it’s very difficult not to feel some ridiculous aspect of fomo for the mercedes benz fashion week. with brands such as kluk cgdt and gavin rajah showcasing their work over the next three days, my heart yearns to be there… but since i cant visit cape town, i decided to visit memory lane. four months ago was merecedes benz fashion week joburg and i had the pleasure of seeing tart, selfi, adriaan kuiters and maxhosa by laduma. i posted some stuff on it here. but, as always, you never quite get around to posting all the stuff, so i thought i should relive those glory moments – got to meet jerri mokgofe, trevor stuurman, raya rossi, nhlanhla nciza (of mafikizolo) and patrice motsepe, and that was a pretty big deal to me.

i felt like a mountain that entire evening, being 6’3 in those heels (head in the clouds, hallelujerrr) and i looked sort of like a cool-attorney (in retrospect, though – i still dig it), and i was only mildly anxious being in a room of cool-looking strangers (eek), but it was still an epic experience. read more for more pictures & attempted-ly witty captions.

my sister and i basically arrived to a turn up with mafikizolo giving us life.
nhlanhla herself – her skin is literally gold. she’s without flaws.
probably one of the only times i’ll be this close to a david tlale original. #butthatsnoneofmybusiness πŸ™
this detailing left me breathless.
because also us plebs want to have the brilliant cheekbones that we weren’t #blessed enough to be born with.
thank you space for the tickets once again!
unbeknownst to me at the time, i had been right in front of/next to/diagonal from mahlatse jamesΒ and photographed him doing his thang. i love his hat.
speaking of hats, the iconic trevor stuurman is never far from his. i actually embarrassed myself a little bit my fawning over this moment so hard, but whatever. much excitement.
raya rossi also being a part of the cool-hat-crew in this stunning monochrome piece. i was also being a bit of an embarrassing fan girl in this moment but whatever. she’s amazing.
πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ despite looking gigantic, i totally vibed our monochromaticness.
my sister being photgraphed by jerri and just being stunning.
jerri mokgofe doing what his shirt said – SLAYing.
in between jerri mokgofe and david tlale pieces. not bad, eh?
my favourite miniature humans, josh lubinsky and khensani of glitterdaiquiri. these kids keep me young and urge me to be fab.
because, again, she’s beautiful.
between mr patrice motsepe and mr davide cardarelli. what an ending.

you’ll catch me at the next #mbfwj – so i will, for now, be saying no to fomo and following all the fashion via instagram! elle SA and a fashion friend never fail to cover all the greats πŸ™‚
