Despite the sweltering, uncomfortable heat – one of the biggest benefits of summer in South Africa is definitely the versatility of your wardrobe. During the summer months, there are some days when it still feels like winter and you can put on some boots, and other days when it’s so hot that espadrils are your only companion on the beach. Beyond that, you can wear open-toe heels without worrying about your toes falling off from the cold. So, in conjunction with Superbalist and the latest Sole Venture story on their blog with Aqeelah Harron and Anelisa Mangcu (which you can shop here), I thought I’d show you my top picks from each shoe category and give you a little insight into how I’d style them.

During the past few days, I’ve found myself – for lack of better words – going through the absolute most. But the one thing that I have to keep reminding myself is that the prioritisation of self is paramount, so even when I feel like the world is crumbling around me, I still need to take care of myself. And don’t get me wrong – this post is not coming with all of the answers (because I’m still gowishing as I type), it’s just coming with suggestions from me and the good people of Twitter for those of you who are going through some things too.

read | splurge or save?

a few days ago, i was contacted by jessica brady of Raise.com about a post they made on splurging vs saving and she asked for my take on the topic. you can read their post here 🙂

i’ve always been that kind of person who lived by the motto, “free is always better,” and most days i still do. i enter competitions to win stuff, particularly for those which i probably wouldn’t have paid for anyway; free food always tastes better (even if it’s just your parents paying); free tickets = funner events, and so it goes. but unfortunately, that rule of thumb doesn’t apply to fashion, because in fashion, there’s another rule i live by: “is it quality or trendy?”, which leads me to the title of this post – splurge or save? sometimes we all get caught up in the bright lights of fancy, foreign brands, but when is the price tag really worth it? and for what items?
