art | the princess of nubia

the alternate title reads: my mom saw these photos and told me i looked like a nubian princess

shot by khensani, edited by me

in the second part of my day with khensani (of glitterdaiquiri), we decided to have a lot of fun with post-modernistic neogrunge nubianism. its not really a term that exists (but it has a nice ring to it, no? i think i should make it a thing. it can be a new tumblr subgenre, right next to soft grunge, soft ghetto and pale blogs), but essentially, its what two creatives call messing about with make up, forehead jewellery and colour hues.

read | splurge or save?

a few days ago, i was contacted by jessica brady of Raise.com about a post they made on splurging vs saving and she asked for my take on the topic. you can read their post here 🙂

i’ve always been that kind of person who lived by the motto, “free is always better,” and most days i still do. i enter competitions to win stuff, particularly for those which i probably wouldn’t have paid for anyway; free food always tastes better (even if it’s just your parents paying); free tickets = funner events, and so it goes. but unfortunately, that rule of thumb doesn’t apply to fashion, because in fashion, there’s another rule i live by: “is it quality or trendy?”, which leads me to the title of this post – splurge or save? sometimes we all get caught up in the bright lights of fancy, foreign brands, but when is the price tag really worth it? and for what items?

outfit | lust for leather

photos taken by khensani of glitter daiquiri

lately, i’ve had this (ridiculous) obsession with leather. and believe me when i say it didn’t help when i went shopping the other day and ended up in cotton on, face to face with a pair of leather joggers. i stood and stared at them, as if i were in a cliched romcom. the world moved in slow motion and all i could do was look at these pants… and laugh. i thought they were absolutely ridiculous, so of course, i bought them. lol. even now, whenever i talk about them, i laugh, because they are so weird (and my family hates them) but they are, like, the single greatest thing i own at the moment.

outfit | opposite of adults

‘opposite of adults’, alternatively titled, ‘the security guard thought i was too fat to be on a seesaw’.

my polaroid camera was a birthday gift and it is my world

you know, since i recently turned eighteen, i haven’t actually felt that different. sure, i can vote, drink, drive (when i get my ish together), gamble, get married, get my own gym membership, my own savings account, blahblahblahblahblah, and sure, some of those things are daunting, but other than that, i’ve been very calm about this whole aging process.

outfit | outfit of the day: 12/4/2014

hello readers 🙂 if you follow me on twitter, you would know that the past few weeks/month has not been the easiest (hence why i chose medicine as the song for this post… hehe) but i thought that my blog deserved a little outfit post. it was a quick little shoot done by yours truly with a tripod in my bedroom, hence why there are no detail shots, only my shoes (and my new hair) because i especially needed a reason to blog about them.
