When I was talking to Kenny a while back, I asked her the question “So if clothes do not maketh the woman, what does?” And that actually got me thinking about the role of womanhood in fashion, or more so, of fashion in womanhood.

Hello friends and welcome to Solo’s Corner! Solo’s Corner is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, and basically, it’s a monthly instalment of interviews with creatives and bloggers from around the country where I just get to know them a little more. The questions range from fashion to music to truth or dare – mostly because I wanted to bring a more personable approach to some of our faves on the internet. To the matrics of 2015 who can finally say “Mama, I made it!”, congratulations!! ? I know as well as anyone that it was a long and difficult road but you did it, and for those of you going on to university, I thought I would try and impart some more wisdom on the things I wish people had told me before I got there. Some of these will have a UCT bias because you write what you know, but I’m pretty sure the rest are pretty relatable.

In the land of ‘#OOTD’s, ‘#FWIS’s and flat lay Instagram posts, it’s really not that difficult to believe that fashion bloggers are vapid, little bimbos flashing around their free designer handbags and going to fancy parties to drink expensive champagne and talk about nothing in particular. And while this does happen on occasion, I think it’s incredibly naive to reduce fashion bloggers to that.
