Versace Spring Summer 2013

Versace Spring Summer 2013

In Milan Fashion Week, Donatella Versace showcased the Spring Summer 2013 collection and I personally think it was feminine with some sass and a little edge.

In this collection, we see a lot of lace (starting out with this lovely camel-tan shade). The fabrics and textures are mixed to create a really eclectic collection. Lace seems to be a common thread throughout the show, though – if not being used as a major part in the ensemble, it’s used as embellishments and details on the garments. Also, different types of lace are being used with different shapes and patterns on them.

The entire Versace show was colour-blocked – it started out with the camel, then it moved into the beige (both of these with the definite black lace embellishments), then into the more summery blues and oranges. As the colour changes, the mood of the collection changes too – it becomes lighter because the garments are now more chiffon based.

The concept for the heels seems to be kept constant throughout the show – all of the shoes have straps above the ankle for more of an edgier look.

The garments all seem to have low necklines in common – with the chiffon dresses having those and cut out portions as well as the high slits too.

My personal favourite dress is the light orange chiffon dress (above picture, the one on the right). I think it’s feminine and very spring-summery. Donatella did it again!
