lifestyle | tea time at the cape grace

Apart from health reasons, my family ties to the UK have always had me leaning towards being a tea-person rather than a coffee-person. And lately, with the growing wave of coffee culture rocking the shores of Cape Town, I won’t lie and say I’ve been feeling a little left out. Decaf coffee just doesn’t taste right and most cafes have a dismal tea collection of five roses English breakfast, rooibos tea and maybe green and chai tea if you’re lucky.

travel | dearsolo goes to istanbul [part 3]

hello friends! i (belatedly) wish you all a merry christmas, happy hanukah, happy kwanza and a general happy holiday season! after being in cape town for a week for my sister’s graduation and all the christmas stress that ensued upon my return to the 011, my laptop took a backseat, and somewhat begrudgingly, so did my blog. it was really nice to not worry about updating the big blog, and just updating the microblogs (tumblr, instagram, twitter, facebook, etc) instead, but as 2015 approaches, i thought i should at least tie up some loose ends, namely, my turkish travels trilogy.

Ain’t No Party Like A Tea Party

Ain’t No Party Like A Tea Party

I am finally finished exams! *rounds of applause* Hopefully, my winter vacation will allow me to do some shopping, some reading, and some blogging as well. But anyways, yesterday, my friends and I (spearheaded by the lovely Emma) threw Marisa a little tea party to celebrate her 17th birthday which is on Monday. As an avid tea lover, this day excited me to no ends. Emma catered this whole thing – from the mini red velvet cupcakes to the paint palette cake to the array of teas – she had done it all!

Just a few photos I wanted to share from the day – including me and my friends’ rendition of Miley Cyrus’s grill in the We Cant Stop music video.
