Hello friends! Like Bryson Tiller, I’m back and I’m (hopefully) better. Since we last chatted: school is back, JHB is out, CPT is in, stress is also back in, and there was a weave that didn’t get to see this blog at all (oops). I also took my plan about 2016 as written here more seriously – I have a budget that can make the Excel Gods cry, I’ve said “no” a lot, I’ve only missed one lecture (it was Friday at 3pm, give me a break), I’ve written a bit more for some upcoming posts and I’m working with more creatives! Most notably, the amazing Samsung Social Media Star, Sibu Mpanza, who’s been taking lovely pictures of me recently!

travel | dearsolo goes to lagos

(In an incredibly overdue post) Welcome to #DearSoloGoesToLagos. Thinking about writing this has been a little tricky for me because its easy to be a tourist and do tourist-y/blogworthy things in a foreign place (see: Istanbul) but it’s much harder for me to be a tourist in my home city (see: Lagos).

disney love

happy (belated) valentines day! in the spirit of all things love-related, for school, we decided that the theme for the valentines day civvies day should be disney love, because who doesnt love at least one of the disney classics? we had people coming to school as mickey and minnie mouse, lilo from lilo and stitch, esmeralda from the hunchback of notre dame and so much more. i took the opportunity to dress up as one of my favourite disney princesses, jasmine from aladdin, and suffice to say, i had my outfit planned + bought before we even announced the theme to the rest of the school.

on the 14th, we also held our annual valentines day social and our theme was casino royale – the crew worked so hard to make it happen and the turn out was great, if i do say so myself. i was, naturally, on photo duty and i took that as an invitation to have some fun with it and make some photobooth strips of our guests! it was honestly one of the most intense days of my life, and i found multiple new reasons to dislike valentines day – none of which having to do with my complete and utter singledom, funny enough. all in all, it was a success, so i thought i’d share some pics of the day! lemme know what you did this valentines day too 🙂

what i wore:
  • jasmine outfit from china town
  • head chain from fordsburg markets
  • jelly sandals from cotton on
and for the valentines social…

Ain’t No Party Like A Tea Party

Ain’t No Party Like A Tea Party

I am finally finished exams! *rounds of applause* Hopefully, my winter vacation will allow me to do some shopping, some reading, and some blogging as well. But anyways, yesterday, my friends and I (spearheaded by the lovely Emma) threw Marisa a little tea party to celebrate her 17th birthday which is on Monday. As an avid tea lover, this day excited me to no ends. Emma catered this whole thing – from the mini red velvet cupcakes to the paint palette cake to the array of teas – she had done it all!

Just a few photos I wanted to share from the day – including me and my friends’ rendition of Miley Cyrus’s grill in the We Cant Stop music video.
