Fashion Friday: Alexa Chung

Fashion Friday: Alexa Chung

I know it’s been a while since I’ve shown myself on the blogosphere, but here I am again with another (long overdue) Fashion Friday. Today, I have chosen the ever quirky (a word I am smitten with) Alexa Chung.

The hippie-indie-chic model, presenter and British Vogue contributing editor has a completely unique style that has been copied by every other hippie-indie-chic person in the world. I’m in love with her effortless style, her simple make-up and another word I can use to describe her: her whimsy.

In an interview with Stylist.co.uk, Alexa described her go-to style inspirations as Mick Jagger, Kurt Cobain, Jane Birkin and Françoise Hardy. Her favourite fashion city (which we have in common, which basically makes us best friends) is London and she is a firm believer of wearing what you want and what suits you.

Alexa is also known for her casual, boyish style – including her affinity towards cardigans and boots. Even if she isn’t crazy about trends, she sure does know how to start them. I love her style, her staple tousled short hair and neutral make-up. A true style icon.

Fashion Friday: Solange Knowles

Fashion Friday: Solange Knowles

Welcome to the very first installment of Fashion Friday – suggested by one of the the most amazing people I know, Lusanda.

One of the biggest style influences in my life is Solange Knowles. Mostly known as Beyonce’s little sister, Solange is making a name for herself in not only the music industry, but the fashion industry. From the age of 9, she’s been writing songs, and you know what they say about music: it goes hand in hand with fashion.

The 26-year old singer-songwriter/DJ/model/actress/dancer has a very eclectic, and dare I say it, afrocentric style. Solange said, “You get educated by travelling,” and it’s easy to see that her worldly ventures from Japan to Australia to London to New York have all allowed her to create the eccentric style she has now, as well as her modelling and designing for the Knowles sisters’ fashion line, House Of Dereon. She is always up to speed with the trends and constantly making her own, and to be honest, that’s what I love about her. She’s different. And speaking of trends, you can even see that her box braids are rubbing off on Beyonce, as seen here with little baby Blue!

I love how diverse Solange is in her outfits – she’s classy, fashion forward, yet daring at the same time. I love Sol-Angel!

There will be another Fashion Friday next week 🙂
