beauty | wanna be a garnier ambassador? [closed]

Happy new year, everyone! In follow up to my first Garnier 3-in-1 Pure Active post, I was thinking about what Garnier really wanted to achieve with their product: they wanted you to feel clean, fresh, and your best true self – essentially giving you one less thing to worry about because you’re just being you, and that’s how I drew inspiration for these images.

When I was younger – or pretty much up until matric prelims – I had notoriously good skin by no efforts of my own. I seldom broke out, and if I did, it was just two or so pimples on or between my eyebrows. So suffice it to say, I was (and still am) pretty ignorant on skincare and beauty regimens. The most effort I put into my skin was removing my make up before bed and using a daily face wash and face cream. I didn’t use face scrubs, masks, cleanses, toners or change my products often – and I was fine in my complacency. Until my skin decided to forsake me.

Last week Saturday, I had the honour to attend Baked The Blog‘s first Beauty School workshop, hosted and organised by Aisha herself. We got to learn the basics of beauty and other tips and tricks of the trade, as well as debunk some beauty myths, with BTB’s resident beauty maven, Saffiyah.

beauty | the BBB: big braid bun

Alternatively titled: My Anaconda Don’t Want None Unless You Got Buns, Hun

Seeing as it’s #ThrowbackThursday, I thought I’d post this braided hair tutorial from my A Fashion Friend flogger series!

Whenever I saw Solange Knowles or Neema Nouse – or basically every other black girl with box braids – with these gigantic buns, I was always super jealous and felt like I’d missed the memo and wasn’t privy to the big conference that taught everyone how to make these buns, because no matter how long or how thick I made my braids, my buns always looked incredibly pathetic by comparison. So, after searching for answers for a while & finally finding a useful YouTube Video, I have learnt how to accomplish the massive bun, and I’ll impart it onto you in 6 simple steps.

WIN | with dearsolo & hashtagawesome

in celebration of heritage day (24th of september in south africa), i thought it would be great to have a little giveaway! the support for dearsolo has been absolutely incredible in the past few months and this is just my little way of saying thank you 🙂

the incredible team at hashtagawesome decided to give me an eos lip balm & hand cream set to give away to one lucky reader! (south africa only, i’m afraid!) hashtagawesome is your new favourite online shopping destination, and for no other reason than they stock eos products (amongst other things, of course)! eos, or the Evolution Of Smooth, is a brand that creates the eos lip balms that you’ve seen everyone from miley cyrus to kim kardashian use, and personally, i swear by it.

i had to get mine via the lucky people who go abroad and can buy it for me, but now, south africa has their very own way of getting eos products and a range of more!

this brings me to the competition:

in order to win, you have to do 3 simple things:

1) follow @hashtagawesomeza on instagram & like hashtagawesome on facebook.

2) follow @foyinog on instagram & like DearSolo on facebook.

3) comment #hashtagdearsolo on my instagram post.

& voila! you’re in the running to win an eos lip balm & eos hand cream set worth R99.00 each 🙂

the competition runs from 24th september 2014 until 3rd october 2014 (next week friday)! so get entering & spread the word 🙂

have a great heritage day! celebrate your culture, your food, your music and your fashion! embrace your heritage and your history 🙂 #ProudNigerian
