Spring Has Sprung

Spring Has Sprung

The Joburg heat has begun, so we know it’s that time again when summer’s on its way and spring has sprung! Today, I got to break in my new maxi skirt from New Look London – I am absolutely smitten with it because its ridiculously long (thank you tall section!!). What I’m wearing today, apart from the New Look maxi skirt, is just a plain white tank top from Mr Price, a sort-of cardigan from Woolworths, shoes from Woolworths as well and the handbag was a gift from a friend. I also played around with a bit of henna on Friday – my double infinity (obsession courtesy of the TV show Revenge) didn’t work out so well but all in all, it’s not so bad, right?

One thing I love about the end of winter is that even though your mind may trick you into thinking it’s spring, you never really know, so there’s this tree in my garden and whenever the beautiful pink flowers start to bloom, you know spring is here.

Bring out the skirts, dresses and shorts, summer is right around the corner!

High Buns, High Hopes

High Buns, High Hopes

I felt like I don’t post enough of what I’m wearing on this blog, so for those who are interested – today I am wearing black Jay Jays jeans, combat boots from London, a denim shirt from Mr Price, a necklace from my mothers abyss that is her closet and jewellery from Sass Diva, Cape Town flea markets and Dubai.

I also decided to indulge in the 3D Nail Art trend, and let’s just say it takes some getting used to. I also live in constant fear that one of the jewels will fall off – fashionista pains.

Durban July

Durban July

Sorry for the recent posting hiatus, I’ve been in Cape Town since the 29th of June and you’ll be seeing those pictures soon enough 🙂

Carrying on, though, this past weekend in Durban, KwaZulu Natal, was the largest fashion and horse racing spectacle in the country. The 116th Annual Vodacom Durban July is the ultimate place to see and be seen, in the most avant garde, ostentatious and flamboyant outfit you and your stylist can put together.

The Durban July is a horse race, but there are three kinds of people who attend it:

  • Those who go for the fashion.
  • Those who go to be seen.
  • Those who care about the races.

Who am I kidding, I’m not in the last category!

Take a look at my favourite/the craziest ensembles and fascinators at the July!

A Little Print For Dreary Weather

A Little Print For Dreary Weather
If you’re in the southern hemisphere right about now, you’ll be experiencing my (sort of) favourite season: winter, where it’s incredibly easy to add on the layers and the kgs. Usually, I have no problem with winter – I actually love it, but for some reason, I find my fashion limited to mostly jeans and jerseys this year. Don’t get me wrong, I love being snuggled up in a blanket with a cup of tea and a nice book to read or movie to watch as much as the next girl, but this week’s weather, particularly in Johannesburg, has got me feeling less than content.
I decided to add a little colour to my all black ensemble and bring in a printed shirt – seeing as prints are all the rage these days. The top I’m wearing is from Forever 21 UK, my beanie is from H&M UK, my cardigan is from Woolworths, my jeans are from Zara UK and my boots are from a quaint shoe store in Essex, England.
I’m going to attempt to look fashionable this winter, even when the weather is at its worst, because you can’t change the weather, but you can adapt your style. I’m looking forward to spring, when it’s warm enough to wear my sundresses, skirts and shorts but it’s not as hot as those December heat waves of 2011! Until then, though, stay warm!

Today I wanted to share my guilty jewellery pleasure. Sass Diva is one of the most amazing jewellery stores in South Africa because, not only are they stylish and trendy, they’re really affordable too! And trust me, whenever you pop into their stores, you will never leave empty handed. Another reason I wanted to post this was because Sass Diva is having a 50% Off Sale! So hurry to your nearest Sass Diva and get jewellery while stocks last – there’s always a Sass Diva near you.
If you’re not sure, though, there are Sass Diva  stores in Mall of the North in Limpopo, the Highveld and Ilanga Mall in Mpumalanga, Cresta, Eastgate, The Glen, Greenstone, Melrose Arch, Northgate, Sandton City, Fourways Mall, Clearwater Mall, Waterfall Mall, Brooklyn Mall, Centurion Mall, Kolonnade and Menlyn Shopping Centres and Mall @ Reds in Gauteng.
There’s a Sass Diva in the Vaal Mall in North West, Mimonsa Mall in the Free State, Galleria, Gateway and Pavillion Shopping Centres in KwaZulu-Natal, Walmer Park Shopping Centre in the Eastern Cape, Garden Route Mall on the Garden Route and in N1 City Mall, Tygervalley Shopping Centre, Somerset Mall and Canal Walk Mall in the Western Cape.
Enjoy the pictures of some pieces I liked from the website and make sure you get to the Sass Diva 50% Off Sale before everything is gone!
